The purveyors of the province’s beloved beverage are offering Manitobans the opportunity to name their price for a Slurpee on Wednesday, September 14, 2022.
Slurpee lovers can pay whatever they want for a large Slurpee at any 7-Eleven® Canada location, with 100 per cent of that donation going to Food Banks Canada. For every dollar donated, Food Banks Canada can provide two meals to people in need.
“Being a good neighbour and supporting the communities we operate in is one of our core values, and it’s a sentiment shared by our customers too,” said Marc Goodman, VP & GM of 7-Eleven Canada. “Our customers have been so supportive the past eight years of Slurpee Name Your Price Day, and this year, we hope they’ll join us again in the quest to make this our biggest donation event yet.”
The Name Your Price event has taken place annually for the last eight years.
“We are grateful for our partnership with 7-Eleven® Canada and to everyone who takes the time to purchase a Slurpee® on September 14,” said Kirstin Beardsley, CEO of Food Banks Canada. “These donations come at an important time, when food banks in every region of Canada are stretched to their limits, reporting increased demand, which is expected to remain high as more and more people count on food banks to help them cope with rising inflation.”
Winnipeg has been named Slurpee Capital of the World for the last 22 years, consuming more Slurpees than any other city.
