A wealth of knowledge and innovation

Wellington-Altus walks the talk

Wellington-Altus Private Wealth has seen remarkable growth since its beginnings nearly five years ago. The opportunity came to forge a path as an independent wealth management firm for long-time financial advisors Shaun Hauser, Charlie Spiring, Todd Degelman and Blaine Coates, and the four co-founders knew what they wanted their company to be. “The door opened for us to become our own firm after several years with a large financial institution,” says Shaun Hauser, founder and president of Wellington-Altus. “Because we are financial advisors, we knew we wanted to build a company that would embrace the talent of our team and allow us to become partners with them instead of employers.”

Partnering up

Wellington-Altus has built itself around its growing team of professional, dedicated financial advisors, ensuring that their needs are met quickly and seamlessly. “We see ourselves in a partnership with our advisors. They work with us, not for us,” says Hauser. That partnership model drives the firm and its independent, entrepreneurial culture. The leadership team understands that financial advisors know their clients and their needs and what they, in turn, require for success.

“We’re here to listen, fix problems, find solutions and then get out of the way. For instance, we maximize technology to make our advisors’ and clients’ lives easier. Whatever we can do to serve them, we do. We all do better when our advisors can do their jobs well for their clients.”

Meteoric rise

Since its founding in 2017, the company has grown exponentially with no signs of slowing—and was named the number-one-rated wealth advisory firm in Canada by the Investment Executive Brokerage Report Card in 2021.

The Wellington-Altus vision of innovative partnership has paid off in five short years. The company knows its success comes from its commitment to its people. “We now have more than $20 billion in assets under administration,” says Hauser. “Our independence and our culture have helped us get where we are today.”

Growing coast to coast

The Wellington-Altus commitment to its team has led to an influx of Canada’s top industry talent joining the firm. The company boasts 77 advisor teams in 35+ offices across the country, with plenty of room for more.

“Our advisors make a difference in people’s lives. We want advisors that give good advice to create success and wealth for their clients. Wellington-Altus is here to support that work in every way possible, and it shows in our growth, their growth, and our clients’ success.”

Proudly Manitoban

As Wellington-Altus builds on its massive success in Canada’s wealth management sector, it also stays true to its prairie roots. “Three of our four founders are from Winnipeg, and we’re proud to call Manitoba home,” says Hauser. “We’re growing our team, and we couldn’t be happier to do it here. The province is a vibrant place for business, and the talent here is incredible.”

Not only is Wellington-Altus an employer of choice, it’s also active in the community. “We serve on many volunteer boards around the city, and we reinvest here at home wherever we can.” The company is an ongoing contributor to Winnipeg United Way, supporting the organization and its essential work in the city.
