WELCOME to the Summer 2024 issue of Manitoba Inc.
As the new editor, I’m looking forward to sharing ideas and stories about the great work, innovation, community investment, and entrepreneurship that’s happening in Manitoba.
The idea of business at its best is that it’s a partnership – a win-win trade where everyone is better off.
Are there challenges? Absolutely. There are also plenty of great stories to tell.
In my life and work, I’ve had the chance to work in the public and private sector, and get a unique perspective as I’ve travelled across our province and across Canada.
Manitoba is a province of tremendous potential, tremendous resources, and an astonishing array of talent and experience. I’ve been lucky enough to see it first-hand.
We have great mentors and risk-takers, innovators, deal-makers, builders and organizers. Businesses that are world-class, and serve the world. There are folks who are stewards of great legacies and established firms, and folks who are breaking new ground and making new dreams a reality.
This issue of Manitoba Inc. touches on just some of those stories.
This issue focuses on Indigenous Business in Manitoba, and the ways in which Indigenous entrepreneurs are claiming and asserting their identity and place in ways that enrich all of us.
