CIBC offers wills online with willful.co
CIBC announced a new collaboration with Willful, an online will and estate platform, on July 5. The partnership will allow CIBC online banking customers with non-complex wills to create a will, with costs starting at $79. Customers can also create power of attorney documents, create asset lists, and prepare wishes for funerals and burials.
“Canadians want simple online financial solutions to help them manage their finances today and plan for the future, and working with Willful enables our clients to have the peace-of-mind that comes with having a will and plan for their estate,” says David Attard, senior vice-president, digital banking and enablement, personal and business banking, CIBC. “With this new collaboration, we’re encouraging clients to have important conversations and get these vital documents in place, leveraging the convenience of digital to make it as easy as possible.”
Willful is now available in Manitoba, as well as Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Québec and Saskatchewan.

IGM Financial Inc. announces June 2022 assets under management
Winnipeg’s IGM Financial Inc. reported July 6 that total assets under management in June 2022 were $242.1 billion, with preliminary total consolidated net outflows of $389 million in the month.
IG Wealth Management had $105.5 billion in assets under advisement, down 5.1 per cent in the month. Total net inflows were $174 million compared to net inflows of $299 million in the same month a year earlier. Mackenzie assets under management with also down 5.6 per cent, reaching $184.7 billion. Total net outflows were $623 million compared to net inflows of $518 million in June 2021, and investment fund net redemptions were $447 million compared to net sales of $528 million in the same time last year.
Montana’s BBQ & Bar starts rib tour to help Food Banks Canada
RECIPE Unlimited Corporation and Montana’s BBQ & Bar announced on July 8 that Montana’s will be taking a “rib tour” to 15 cities across Canada, including Winnipeg, from July 9 to August 11.
Each stop will offer guests free rib samples and activities, with some locations also hosting a mechanical bull.
“We’re excited to bring our famous ribs on the road, have fun and get Montana’s messy with guests across the country,” said Adrianne Largo, marketing director, Montana’s. The tour will also be accepting donations for Food Banks Canada, and for each sample given out, Montana’s will donate one meals to the charity. Montana’s donated 100,000 meals to Food Banks Canada ahead of the Thanksgiving long weekend last year, and hopes to donate 150,000 meals in 2022.
Manitoba cannabis companies join forces
Five independent Manitoba cannabis companies – Alicanto Gardens, Cypress Craft, Kief Cannabis, Natural Earth Craft Cannabis and TobaGrown – announced July 6 that they have formed the province’s first cannabis packaging and delivery alliance called the TobaRolling Syndicate. Prior to the formation of the alliance, each company had to package and deliver their cannabis products separately. Now, the five companies will package products in one location and deliver to dispensaries together.
“We are very excited to cooperatively align with our independent partners to expand our footprint in the Manitoba cannabis space,” said Tim Doerksen, director of Natural Earth Craft Cannabis.
When up and running, the organization will package products at the Kief Cannabis facility at Selkirk, Man.
StoneRidge Insurance Brokers partners with Knight Archer Insurance
SIB Corp., known as StoneRidge Insurance Brokers, announced on July 8 that it is now in a partnership with Knight Archer Insurance. Knight Archer, based in Regina, has 17 insurance offices in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta.
